Second Istisqa Prayer After Jumah Prayer Today

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahamtullah Wabarakatu,

We, as Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, are living in very difficult times where many residents within our communities are facing severe trials. Across our province, the raging wildfires continue to destroy homes, forests, and livelihoods. Many of our fellow Newfoundlanders and Labradorians have been displaced, while many more live in fear and grief. This is a time for us to turn to Allah (swt) with humility, repentance, and supplication, while also extending compassion and support to those in need.

Disasters such as these wildfires are reminders of our weakness before the power of God. They should bring us closer to God and not drive us further apart. We must pray for rain, for the easing of suffering, and for the protection of all life.

During the time of our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, special congregational prayers were held for rain.

It is in this spirit that the Muslim Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (MANAL) held a special congregational prayer last night at Masjid-al-Noor on 430 Logy Bay Road.

We are proud to be part of Newfoundland and Labrador's social and cultural mosaic and consider it our duty to act during these difficult times by offering our help, donating to the relief efforts, and supporting the first responders as well as others who are fighting these fires.

Our Prophet ﷺ said:

“The most beloved of people to Allah (God) are those who are most beneficial to others.”

MANAL has also started a donation campaign to raise money for those affected by the wildfires to aid in their relief efforts. Donations are tax-deductible and can be made either online at https://manal.ca/donate or by contacting us at manal@manal.ca.

We will be holding another congregational prayer for rain immediately following Jumah Prayer today (August 15, 2025) at Masjid al-Noor (430 Logy Bay Road) at 1:30pm.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan,

MANAL Executives
