Eid al Adha Announcement

Eid al Adha Announcement

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Assalamu Alaikum

Alhamdulillah we entered the month of Dhul-Hijjah.  InshaAllah Arafat will be on Monday (August 20th) and the first day of Eid al Adha will be on Tuesday (August 21st). May Allah (SWT) bless our community and the whole Muslim Ummah with a happy and peaceful Eid.

The Muslim Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (MANAL) would like to remind you about the significance of the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah and provide some logistical information about the upcoming Eid arrangements.

The significance of the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah has been mentioned in the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet (SAW). The second verse of Surah Al Fajr makes a specific reference to these ten nights. The Messenger of Allah (SWT) has been reported as saying "There are no deeds as excellent as those done in these ten days".  In that context, it has been reported that the Messenger (SAW) used to fast during the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah.  Let us follow His Sunnah and take advantage of these days by increasing our salah, charity and fasting.  Let us remember that it is strongly advised to fast on the day of Arafat.

Please note that the only Eid prayer will be held at 7:30 am on Tuesday (August 21st) at Sheraton Hotel (115 Cavendish Square, St. John's). (There will be no Eid prayer at the Mosque.)

Since Tuesday is a working day, it is likely that there will be some busy traffic on the way. So please depart from your homes early enough and arrive at Sheraton Hotel latest by 7.15 am

When you arrive, please make sure that you park in the designated parking area only.  Please follow the instructions of MANAL volunteers to find parking space.

Please remember to bring your own prayer mat with you.

Once again, MANAL would like to wish you and your family a very happy and peaceful Eid.

Jazakum Allahu Khairun,

MANAL Executives
