All-Candidates Forum

Assalamualaikum Brothers and Sisters,

The upcoming federal election provides an opportunity for Canadians to exercise our right to elect an individual who will be best suited to represent the values and beliefs which are dear to us all.

In the last federal election (2011), the Muslim Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (MANAL) invited the candidates who were respectively nominated to represent St. John’s East by the Conservative Party, the New Democratic Party (NDP), the Green Party, and the Liberal Party, to visit our mosque and provide a synopsis of their party platforms. The evening session was quite informative to our members who also had the opportunity to share their comments and concerns with the candidates.

In keeping with the same tradition, MANAL has again invited the candidates of St. John's East representing all four federal parties in the upcoming federal election. We believe that such sessions will not only be of benefit to our membership, but may also inform the parties in the development of policies and programs on issues which are important to many of us in the community (such as citizenship and immigration, labour market integration and retention of newcomers, and education).

Each candidate will have ten minutes to present their respective platforms followed by a question and answer session in which we can all participate.

MANAL requests all members of the community to attend and fully participate in this event. This is an opportunity for us to show our united strength.
