Ramadan 2024 - Important Message

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahu Wa Barakatuhu.

Alhamdulillah, we are about to experience the Holy Month of Ramadan. We pray to Allah (SWT) to enable all of us to build strong Taqwa during this holy month and guide us to sustain it for the rest of our lives. As mentioned in the Holy Quran (2:183), the true goal of fasting is to improve our level of Taqwa.

Kindly note the following points about MANAL's ongoing Ramadan and Taraweeh planning:

·  Insha'Allah, the first day of Ramadan will be on Monday, March 11th and the first Taraweeh will be on Sunday, March 10th.

·  Ramadan timetable is available on the top level menu of the MANAL website for your convenience.

·   Mosque will be open insha'Allah for Fajr, Maghrib and Ishaa prayers from Monday to Friday and for all five prayers over the weekend.

The following measures are mandatory to keep the Mosque clean and peaceful during prayers:

1. Make wudu at home

2. Children below the age of six are not allowed in the Mosque during Taraweeh prayer.

3. Parents are requested to make sure that their children don’t engage in any disruptive activity while in the Mosque

For those who cannot attend Ishaa and Taraweeh in person, Insha'Allah we will have daily live streaming from MANAL website.

Please note that MANAL as per its policy does not allow any other institution or individual to undertake any type of fundraising within its premises.

Finally, Zakatul Fitr is $20 per person and we advise you to pay it at your earliest convenience. We wish you and your families Ramadan Kareem.

Jazakumullahu Khairan,

MANAL Executive Committee

Press Release - Muslim Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (MANAL)

The Muslim Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (MANAL) stands in solidarity with the civilians of Gaza who are now left without any water, food, power, or humanitarian aid, nor a safe place to seek refuge in their own land. A population, half of which consists of young children, is suffering from horrific war crimes and ethnic cleansing as their homes, mosques and hospitals are being constantly bombarded. Hundreds of helpless women, children, and elderly are dying every day.

The recent attack on a Christian hospital, where many Palestinians were seeking refuge and medical care, took the ongoing violence to a level that no free human conscience can bear and tolerate.

As a nonpartisan religious organization, MANAL is not willing to engage in the politics of this conflict. But as faithful Muslims, we firmly stand against injustice. We demand our Canadian elected politicians and the media to assume more responsibility in securing an immediate ceasefire. We also ask them to refrain from toxic narratives that serve to trigger hatred against Muslims in Canada and elsewhere. Let us remember that when forming their opinions, many people still look up to their political leaders and the media without distinguishing between facts and propaganda.

This Friday, as we gather for our Jumah prayer at Masjid Al Noor in St. John’s, we will raise our hands to pray for an immediate end to the ongoing injustice in Gaza. We will also have a funeral prayer in absentia for our Muslim brothers, sisters and children who were killed in the recent attacks.

MANAL Eid Party for Kids

Dear Brothers and Sisters.

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahu Wa Barakatuhu.

As part of our Eid Al Adha celebrations, MANAL is organizing a Kids Party from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM on SUNDAY, July 2 at the indoor facility of Techniplex (39 Churchill Avenue, St. John's).

The party is intended for both young preschoolers AND older school-aged children/youth of our Muslim community.

There will be inflatable bouncy castles, slides, fun games, twisted balloons, face painting and more. Also, one part of the facility will be reserved for our youth who may be interested in playing indoor soccer and other sports.

Please note that all attending children have to be supervised by and be under full responsibility of their parent / guardian.

As per the rules of the facility, food and drinks will not be allowed. We advise everyone to bring their personal water bottles for their own use.

There will be no fee nor pre-registration requirement for admission to the party. But there will be a donation box at the entrance for those who would like to contribute towards the costs.

Wishing you all a very blessed Eid Al Adha together with your families and beloved ones.

Jazakumullahu Khairan,

MANAL Executive Committee
